The faulty siting of energy projects in the high Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia degrades the habitat of rare species, contaminates pristine mountain streams, and leads to high mortality rates for birds and bats in the case of industrial wind projects. Friends of Blackwater challenges gas drilling and industrial wind projects that have negative impacts on the environment. Climate change will impact the rare species of our highest mountains. Land managers need to do a better job to plan for this threat. Friends of Blackwater educates agencies about this issue.
